Speeches

As term 3 came to an end it was time for the speech finals.  It was tough work deciding who would go through to the year 4 - 6 finals but these five did a great job representing Room 9.

You four and Soana should be very proud of yourselves!

Another important part of the day were the speeches in other languages, these four were all able to complete speeches in Tongan.

A big congratulations to Anavea, Heilala, Akanesi and Mele.  Sai 'aupito!

Want to know more about this long unusual word?  Watch the video clip for plenty of examples.

Can you see any words that were represented by our comic book art?

Comic Book Art

For the last couple of weeks we have been working on our own comic books.  We also learnt about onomatopoeia (words that mimic the sound of the noise they make).  Here are the 'pop-art' creations we made using these types of words.

Cross Country

Our cross country runners are off to Bailey Road School today to compete with other schools.  Here are our runners from Room 9.

We wish them luck!

New Technology in Room 9

Room 9 has begun training to use net-books as part of our learning.  Mrs Grant is teaching us how to use them, and is showing us the different things we can do with them.  Today we used them during written language.

Commonwealth Games Design Work

While we were looking at the Commonwealth games we decided to do some design work.  We looked at how the medals and mascot were created for the Glasgow games and came up with concept sketches for our own ideas.  Each finished mascot represents an area within the Commonwealth.  Here are a few of the designs we came up with.

And... a few of our medal designs.
